Sensory Explorers

Led by an occupational therapist, this workshop will have children of all “abilities” play together to experience various sensory integration strategies to help increase self regulation, and to prepare children for learning and playing in a group setting. Use of large movement motor activities will be used to start off the class to help calm, and organize the brain/body to help prepare the child to focus at a more structured activity. This will lead us to focus more on sensory input such as use of shaving cream, slime, putty, cotton balls, glitter, glue, food, and other items that may be new textures for some and that can be difficult for others to tolerate. The class will focus on social skills, including: sharing items, use of eye contact and word use between the children in the class. This class is supposed to be super fun, exciting, and most importantly silly! Extra time for Q + A provided, as well as take home materials.
