Blossoming Bellies Childbirth Education (3 wk. series)

Blossoming Bellies classes are based on the philosophy that active involvement in labor and birth lead to a positive and empowering experience. Active involvement is not defined as a certain way of birthing but instead focuses on providing clients with the tools, resources, research, and usable techniques to support them in developing their own preferences and priorities, discovering a wide array of comfort techniques for managing labor, and understanding the parts of the process that are within their control and to what extent those parts are within control. Classes focus on informed decision making, understanding one's rights in the laboring room, developing skills for communication with providers, common interventions and the role of informed consent and informed refusal, understanding pelvic dynamics and fetal positioning for a smoother and more efficient labor, the emotional and physical aspects of the labor and birth process, pain relief options, physical and emotional coping techniques including movement, positioning, breathwork, relaxation, and more, and the immediate postpartum. Through creating a safe space to ask questions, explore ideas, and share information, Blossoming Bellies classes help the expectant parent and partner, if applicable, to build confidence, embrace active decision making, and develop usable tools to manage labor and birth.
